Who We Help
We help any dog now retired that has worked as a law enforcement
K-9 in Miami-Dade County.
The Fund
All donations are made to the Fund at The Miami Foundation.
100% of your donation goes to the medical assistance of retired Miami-Dade County law enforcement K-9s, as listed below. Retired K-9s typically continue to live in the home of their law enforcement partner. After retirement, there are typically no financial provisions for their healthcare. Many, as they age, acquire diseases, frequently related to their past service. Oftentimes, the human partner is unable to manage the financial responsibilities of extensive medical care.
Law enforcement K-9s are not only faced with natural aging conditions, but many have sustained injuries from training and working, such as torn ligaments, arthritis and back problems. Our Fund has been formed to assist with more serious medical expenses incurred as a result of their line of duty or natural aging problems. Many of these dogs can avoid unnecessary euthanasia with this financial assistance. This is a small price to pay for their previous dedicated service.
